Vaani Kapoor made her Bollywood debut last year with Shuddh Desi Romance and right after that she was signed for the south remake of Band Baaja Baarat titled Aaha Kalyanam. The film is a Tamil-Telugu bilingual venture directed by Gokul Krishna starring Makkhi actor, Nani.
The Yash Raj leading lady says that she was shocked when the makers contacted her and asked her to play the character played by Anushka Sharma in the original. She was worried about the fact that she could neither speak nor understand Tamil or Telugu. So how did she bag the role?
A little birdie tells us that while Vaani auditioned for Shuddh Desi Romance, she was asked to enact a scene from Band Baaja Baaraat and somehow that audition tape reached the director and they decided to cast her for the remake.
Although unknown to the language the actor was looked upon as a perfect fit for the role by director Gokul, who helped her understand the nuances of the languages. And it is because of the director’s strictness and supportiveness that Vaani was able to lip sync properly for all her dialogues. And if they haven’t matched properly then we would definitely be laughing our way home from the theatres. We just hope she doesn’t make a faux pas of herself in the film. Hai na peeps?
