Suchitra Sen's condition critical & Photo Gallery

Suchitra Sen or Rama Dasgupta, is an Indian actress who acted in several Bengali films that mainly concentrated in the regions of Bengal and Bangladesh.

Bengali screen goddess Suchitra Sen's condition deteriorated Saturday afternoon, prompting medics to rush emergency measures that stabilised her, a doctor said.





By the evening, the 82-year-old actress - under treatment at the Intensive Therapy Unit (ITU) of a nursing home here - was responding to non-intensive ventilation and other therapies, with her oxygen level going up.

 Sen’s blood sugar level is under control, but oxygen saturation is fluctuating making it a cause for concern, they said, adding low food intake has made her weak.




Sen was also administered nebuliser, they said. Her vital organs like kidney are, however, working properly, critical care specialist Dr Subrata Maitra said.



Senior physician Sukumar Mukherjee has also been consulted by the doctors. Sen has been put on oral prescribed diet supplemented with peripheral parenieral nutrition and seen by Pawan Agarwal and Dhiman Ganguli.

A medical team led by Maitra is monitoring her condition 24×7.

She was admitted to Belle Vue clinic December 23 following a respiratory tract infection.




As her health turned critical, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, CPM leader Robin Deb and monks from the Ramakrishna Mission in Belurmath and Narendrapur visited the super-speciality hospital.

Veteran actress Suchitra Sen in stable condition

The condition of legendary actress Suchitra Sen, who was admitted to a super specialty hospital in Kolkata, after complaining of respiratory tract infection, is stable now, doctors attending on the veteran actress said.

Veteran Bengali actress Suchitra Sen continues to be seriously ill. Subrata Maitra, who is attending to her along with a team of chest physicians and cardiologists at Belle Vue Clinic in Kolkata, told that, "Suchitraji is conscious but bedridden.
